The Elko County Reading Council (ECRC) is a local organization whose mission is to promote literacy in the communities in which we live and work.

​Membership opens the door to collaborative projects, networking, grant opportunities, family engagement, professional development, and community involvement. This year membership is FREE!

Our Mission

  • To promote literacy in the community on an ongoing basis
  • To further the awareness of reading to the public
  • To promote reading events
  • To promote a lifelong love of reading

What We Do

  • ​Host visiting author Brad Herzog in March 2026
  • Gift books to students with Christmas Book Tree
  • Award up to four $500 student scholarships
  • Provide first-time moms at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital with a "Read to Me" kit
  • Give two $250 mini-grants to teachers who are ECRC members
