Thank you to Brad Herzog for visiting Elko County for Reading Week!
During the week of March 2–5, 2026, the Elko County Reading Council (ECRC) welcomed author Brad Herzog to several schools across the district. Brad visited Northside, Jackpot, Owyhee, Carlin, Liberty Peak, Spring Creek Elementary, Mountain View, Southside, and Grammar #2, giving students and staff a unique opportunity to meet an author and learn more about the writing process.
It was a busy week as Brad traveled throughout Elko County School District, but he thoroughly enjoyed connecting with students and educators at each stop. Students and staff also had the opportunity to purchase one or more of his books and have them personally autographed ahead of his visit.
The Elko County Reading Council would like to thank the Elko County School District for supporting Brad’s visit, as well as the participating schools and the Mountain View PTA for their assistance. Additional thanks go to The Star Hotel for providing dinner and Ramada by Wyndham Elko Hotel at Stockmen's Casino for hosting Brad during his stay. Brad also enjoyed a potluck lunch hosted by staff at Southside Elementary.
Events like these help inspire a love of reading and writing in students across the district, and the Elko County Reading Council is proud to help bring these opportunities to local schools.
